ARTIST STATEMENT
Through the time-bound stories of algae, water, seaweed, cultivated and naturally-grown plants, soil, and dried grasses woven by time and wind, I echo and mimic the creations of nature through my own manipulation of materials. My work is a critique of the intertwined relationship we share with nature and the simultaneous tendency to "other" ourselves from it.
I create work that re-centers the senses into our experiences and memories. I explore how our learned history, foundational experiences, and societal conditioning have shaped existence in our environments, and how that, in turn, influences our interactions with nature.
